Pet Photoshoot
There's nothing quite like the bond between pet owners and their pets. And there's nothing quite like the frustration of trying to take a great photo of your pet while he or she fidgets or moves at that vital moment, even with the convenience of digital cameras. But you can still get some great shots, which can capture the heart and soul of the pet you're trying to photograph - even if it's just the memory of trying to get that photo right! And of course, thanks to digital photography, you can delete the shots you don't want to hold on to and create albums for those you do. And thanks to everything we can do online these days, we can also make sure we have pictures of our pets everywhere, on mugs, blankets, cushions, in photo frames, photo books...the list is endless! Printerpix and Inkifi have lots of ideas of where you can put photos of your pets! There are lots of tips to take the best photos of your pet online, such as Top tips for taking great pet photography by Venture Studios with the rather gorgeous Dexter. Or you could book in a session with a pet photographer or give a pet owner an experience day where the owner and pet(s) visit a pet photographer to have a professional photo taken. ![]() Virgin Experience Days have a number of pet photoshoot experiences, including this one, Venture Studios Newborn Pet Photoshoot, Image and Frame. You can do this all over the country, pretty much, and if you wanted to treat a pet owner to such an experience, you could look at getting them one from Virgin Experience Days who have a number of different options. (Please note what the experiences involve as they differ from one to another.) Of course, you could always draw your pets instead or as well! One of the things I've started to do is to draw pets and animals. It's great fun - all I needed to get started was plain paper and a pencil. I copy animals from magazines, newsletters that I get through the post, wildlife books I've got at home, and try to put in the detail. One of the things I've done recently which has really made a difference though is to use You Tube and some of the videos there to help me improve my drawing. It's great fun, I can fit it in as and when it suits me, and the videos I use are fairly short, so saying to myself "I've got no time" is no excuse. I like to draw in the evening and it gives me a sense of satisfaciton, even when things don't go quite right. I did a pine marten recently who doesn't look like a pine marten at all, but nonetheless it was therapeutic to do, if at times a bit frustrating. I gave it the capture "I'm supposed to be a pine marten" in my sketch book. The videos I follow most of all are from a chap who is @ArtOnlineTutorials as Easy Pencil Art Drawing. He gives lots of very simple tips in a step by step way - such as use a sharp pencil, and put the detail in later - which have really helped me. You can find his videos here. I started with trees as they are easier for me to have a go at but he does landscapes and animals, seascapes and mountains. I particularly like his "How to draw realistic animals" where he shows you how to draw 20 animals, all with pencil. Pets hold a very special place in the heart of pet owners, so why not treat a pet owner's pet to his own special photoshoot with a photographer who knows their stuff? Then his or her owner will have something special to look back on, with a special momento of their beloved animal friend. You could also create a photobook of a pet for something really special.
