Get Active at Home

Get active in your home and garden! Now that it's getting colder, the RSPB remind us that birds need feeding. We have the perfect excuse to leave our gardens - or at least, a corner of them - in a bit of a mess to give a home to hedgehogs. In the dark nights ahead, this is the perfect time to catch up with some nature programmes and also to get stuck into wildlife magazines.

Make a Difference from home...

Plan a really bumblebee friendly garden
Watch out for hedgehogs!
Join surveys such as RSPB's Big Garden Birdwatch in January
Knit for animals
Look out old blankets, towels, anything that may be of use to animal charities
Collect Used stamps for animal charities
Dog Walking - there are charities & elderly folk who need you to help walk dogs
Foster pets - espcially at the moment, as animal charities are inundated. Fostering could be short or long term
Feed the birds - especially in cold weather. The RSPB sell bird feeders & bird food.
Frog or snake surveys - wriggle your way to help toad patrols
Walking has huge benefits for everyone - and can easily be fitted into a day
