Get Active: volunteer, experience, connect with the natural world

We're so sad to hear the news about Paul O'Grady's passing.  He did so much for people and animals, both in Britain and around the world.  He was a true gentleman, compassion, kind, caring and funny.  All our thoughts are with his family, people and animals, his friends and of course everyone at Battersea Dogs and Cats Home.  They have set up a Tribute Fund for Paul O'Grady which you can donate to here.  Rest in peace, Paul, and thank you for all you did to bring animals to us on our screens and for all you did for them.  You will be so missed.

The final series of "For the Love of Dogs" starts this week on ITVon Thursday 13 April.  The late Paul O’Grady helps the staff with the dogs in their care, and he helps find new homes for them.  It has been an amazing series, funny, moving, caring, loving, hopeful and at times very sad, but it is so sad that we won’t see this series again.  Paul O’Grady was brilliant in it, as were the staff.   The dogs of course were the real stars!

All the “For the love of dogs” series can be found here, and the final one starts on Thursday 13 April on ITV at 8:30.   In the first episode, Paul falls head over heels in love with a Newfoundland, who needs life-saving surgery.  I am not sure if I'm going to watch it - I am crying now as I type this and remember the incredible love Paul O’Grady showed, not just for the animals, but the staff as well.

If you would like to donate to Battersea in Paul O’Grady’s memory and as a tribute to him, there’s a Tribute Fund page you can donate to here.

The world has lost an incredible man and we thank him for all he has done to help animals, especially dogs, both in the UK and worldwide.

Thinking of everyone at Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, and Paul’s family and friends, and may Paul rest in peace, no doubt surrounded by lots of waggy tails and licks of love from our furry friends.
