Froglife has sent three great ideas to empower young people to help amphibians and reptiles, so here they are:
1. Dig a small pond
This is a great way to help amphibians in your area, and it will get you fit! Plus you'll see results pretty quikcly, as frogs often move in within months, along with dragonflies, birds, and even a grass snake or two! Mums and Dads, remember to supervise your kids as they build their pond.
Froglife have some FAQs on building ponds here, and ways to keep younger children safe when there are ponds about here. |

2. Find out about reptiles locally
Get yourself a local patch from which to watch reptiles. Find your nearest nature reserve nad ask a park ranger whether it's possible to see local reptiles there. Visit regularly, if there are, but make sure you take an adult with you. You'll be able to see which reptiles like to bask in the sun and where they hibernate later in the year. Find out what events are on later in the year. Why not set up your own blog to show what you've done? |
 |
Think about getting involved in projects such as NARRS (the National Amphibian & Reptile Recording Scheme, if not this summer, then later
3. Fundraise for frogs
Raise funds for Froglife to help in their conservation of the UK's amphibians and reptiles. As well as raising money for the charity, you'll be raising their profile! Click here for more info. |

We've come up with other ideas as well:
Check out your local Wildlife Trust to find out what events they've got going on for young people, too. Many run courses during the summer holidays and at half term. You can find out about your local Wildlife Trust here.
You can also help Save the Albatross by collecitng stamps from your envelopes and sending them in to this campaign. Find out more about this amazing bird and how you can help here. |
