Treat your children to one last adventure before they go back to school by visiting either London or Whipsnade Zoo. Make this a Bank Holiday that they don't forget. With the chance to see some of their favourite animals including the Meerkat, Pygmy hippopotamus & The Eurasian Brown Bear they will never want to leave. As well as all the usual tourist attractions, London has a number of animal attractions & nature related things to do, all of which will help you get active.   There are free things to do in London, as well, such as strolling through the many beautiful London parks on a wonderful sunny day.
 
The Household Cavalry Museum
A unique behind the scenes look at the work that goes into the ceremonial duties and operational role of The Household Cavalry.  From a glazed screen inside the museum, you can see into the working stables of The Queen's Life Guard.

London Wetland Centre
A stunning wetland oasis right in the heart of London!  Home to bitterns, kingfishers & a colony of endangered water woles.  Ducks, geese, swans, including the rare long-tailed ducks & white-faced whistling ducks.  Frogs, slow worms, bats, snakes too.  A great view from the 360 degree Peacock Tower hide.  Check out their events. 

The SEA LIFE London Aquarium is home to one of the world's largest collections of marine life, giving you the chance to go on an interactive journey along the Great Oceanic Conveyor.  Stars of the show along the way include seahorses, octopus, zebra sharks and clown fish. 
 
But there's more to the London Aquarium than this: it provides the UK with a centre of excellence on marine management, conservation, preservation & education right in the capital of the UK, London!  It has partner links with the Marine Conservation Society, the Whale and Dolphine Conservation Society and Save our Seas Foundation

Join the Green Chain!
There are around 300 Green Chain open spaces in South East London, and a network of 40 miles of footpaths link many of the Green Chain spaces togehter.  There are 10 great walks, some suitable for wheelchairs, so stride on over to theGreen Chain to find out more. You may well see squirrels, voles, foxes, woodpeckers & jays, and more!

  • WASH YOUR HANDS after touching animals BEFORE eating or snacking. (It could be a good idea to take some antiseptic wipes or handwash with you, just in case loo facilities don't provide soap.) Do not let children put their fingers into their mouths or suck thumbs after touching animals - it's common sense!
  • The amount of contact you can have with animals varies from one place to another & one animal to another. Common sense must prevail.
  • Before you visit places, check that there are no current regulations/conditions which could mean that they are closed. Also check for opening hours.
  • Take your rubbish home with you, at animals' requests
