The World Horse Welfare has 4 rehabilitation centres across the UK including one at Hall Farm, Snetterton Norfolk. Visit their web site for visiting hours & days. Hall Farm in Norfolk rehabilitates and cares for about 100 horses at any one time. There are guided tours, courses, lectures and more.
Welney Wetland Centre, Near Cambridge, Ely and Peterborough, each winter up to 9,000 Whooper and Bewick Swans from down from Iceland and Arctic Russia to head to the east of England and the Ouse Washes at Welney. In the spring, rare wading birds arrive - enjoy close views of Avocet, Lapwing, Snipe, Common Tern and Little Ringed Plover on their nests and raising chicks. Summer sees butterflies, dragonflies and damselflies.
Visit a very special charity In October 2005 Redwings merged with the Ada Cole Memorial Stables in Essex. This was a rescue centre established in memory of Ada Cole who campaigned for animal welfare. There are 50+ rescued horses, ponies, donkeys and mules at the site - some are permanent residents while others are looking for loving homes through the charity’s Guardianship Scheme.
