Dolphin Conservation

Well, here's an amazing holiday for you to consider...helping with dolphin research & conservation in Scotland.

You'll visit some of the remotest islands in the Hebrides, see stunning scenery, pick up sailing skills and help protect marine life & the environment... here's how...

The west coast of Scotland has an abundance of wildlife, from bottlenose dolphins & harbour porposes, minke whales & Risso's dolphins, basking sharks, grey seals, otters, sun fish, nesting & breeding seabirds.

You have an opportunity to work with a team focusing on research on common species such as harbour porpoise, minke whale, bottlenose dolphin & basking sharks.
This research will increase knowledge about these wonderful animals to pass on to future generations and protect these animals from threats which have been devastating elsewhere. You'll help produce the data that can help the team on board the research vessel, Silurian, in its work to understand the distribution, relative abundance and habitat preferences of the cetaceans in the survey area; and also to promote the sustainable use of the marine environment.

Responsible Travel - Silurian in Scotland
The Scottish islands are stunning, and the range of habitats & species make the country a prime nature destination in Europe. You can help play a part in ensuring that the wildlife there is protected, and help safeguard marine environments & biodiversity.

Participating in this holiday will help the the team ensure that their work continues. Crucially, they also spend some time working with children and young people, encouraging them to experience life on a research vessel, and arranging beach cleans with the community around the coast of Mull.

Responsible Travel is an ethical travel Directory. They started up in 2000 and currently 20 people work for them, and have a range of 3,500 holidays worldwide to choose from. They have a team who spend all day screening those companies & holidays which apply to be included in their Directory, checking that they fulfil Responsible Travel's criteria to be added to their list of holidays
