Why go away from the UK when there's so much to explore in it? Book a holiday at home this year!
Well, I just spent 2 days getting back from a long weekend in Italy - but it could have been worse - I know people who spent far longer getting home than that, as no doubt you do too!
If you're ready to book your holiday this year but are looking to avoid flight disruption and the Euro-pound exchange rate, a good solution could be to simply stay in the UK. Britain has some simply stunning scenery to enjoy, giving you a real chance to get active and explore it on foot, to volunteer, to relax and chill or try out something different. It has lots to do in the animal world, too, even in many of its towns and cities.
Another advantage for dog owners is that you can take your dog on many holidays as increasing numbers of hotels & B&Bs wake up to the fact that dog owners want to enjoy their pet's company on holiday and take them with. Some take horses, too, so you can explore new regions from the back of your trusty steed.
Just think - staying at in the UK means...
No need to fly anywhere - no airports, no check-in desks, no having to fight through customs or immigration...
The same currency, so no need to mess about with exchange rates, currency & coins... just the good old British pound
No need to worry about the lingo or phrase books - you can give your brain a break
Plenty of opportunity to get active, with walking, swimming & exploring plus opportunities to chill & relax at spas, wellbeing holidays & special interest breaks
There's nightlife for the young at heart and cosy country pubs for those who prefer something a little quieter.
Lots to do for the animal lovers - such as visiting the wonderful Donkey Sanctuary at Sidmouth - free entry and you get the chance to meet lots of lovely donkeys & learn more about the work the Sanctuary does around the world
Yummy cream teas, icecreams, cider, local ales & bitter, family picnics, friendly pubs
Lovely beaches for the kids to play on
Distinctive character to the various parts of the country, from the beauty of the Lake District to the rolling moors in the South West, from the New Forest to the wonderful beaches in Wales, and we mustn't forget the lochs in Scotland & Yorkshire Dales.
Plenty of dog friendly fun - frisbee, walkies, meeting other dogs, waggy tails, swimming in the sea on a good number of beaches, new whiffs & sniffs & places to have a good romp in. Doggie Pubs lists lots of pubs which welcome dogs
Great fresh air in the countryside - fantastic for those lungs, especially if you combine it with lots of walkies (with or without a dog)
You're on the same piece of land for getting home, so no need to worry about your luggage ending up in Sydney or flight delays or cancellations or extra flight charges or volcanic ash.
