Please check the web sites carefully for changes to dates, locations etc, both when planning to go and right up to the day of admission if you're off to a show.  Sometimes shows are cancelled - not due to weather but because of other reasons such as arise in the animal kingdom.

National Poop Scoop Week urges dog owners to clear up their pet's poop. Don't let's give non-dog lovers more fire to use in their efforts to stop dogs accessing places because their owners leave dog poop lying around!

It's Horses in Need month, run by the Brooke, who care for about 650,000 horses, donkeys, mules & the occasional camel around the world.  Educating & training owners is a major part of their work.

Rare & Traditional Breeds Show, Sussex - cattle, pigs, sheep, poultry, rare & traditional breeds plus lots of classes for young handlers & craft and trade stands

Take Your Dog to Work Day organised by the Blue Cross to support needy animals and encourage owners to spend more time with their pets.

Clean up
Clean up the World or your local community, at least.  Animals get their paws caught in all sorts of rubbish or try to eat it - so the more we can do to keep the planet clean of our litter, the more we help animals.

DogsThe Great Greyhound Gathering, scheduled for 19th September. Last year's event was a terrific success. Entertainment, classes, displays, trade stands & more.

World Rivers Day helps raise awareness of the importance of keeping rivers healthy & clean.

Walk your dog to school!  Organised by Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, this event gives young people a chance to walk their dog to school instead of taking the car - better for dogs & kids to have exercise!  Watch the link page for info.

CountrysideAutumn Countryside Show, Sussex - enjoy the countryside at harvest time. Heavy horses, falconry, dog displays, woodcraft demos, steam powered threshing and lots more

  • Note that animals are unpredictable - and they may not always want to be seen or found.  We cannot guarantee how close you may or may not get to animals in specific programmes - common sense must prevail.
  • WASH YOUR HANDS after touching animals BEFORE eating or snacking.  (It could be a good idea to take some antiseptic wipes or handwash with you, just in case loo facilities don't provide soap.)  Do not let children put their fingers into their mouths or suck thumbs after touching animals - it's common sense!
  • The amount of contact you can have with animals varies from one place to another & one animal to another.  Common sense must prevail.   
  • Before you visit places, check that there are no current regulations/conditions which could mean that they are closed. Also check for opening hours. 
  • Take your rubbish home with you, at animals' requests
